SCDO Press Release
STEVENAGE CARNIVAL POSTPONED UNTIL 2011
Following recent discussions with Stevenage Borough Council, the Stevenage Carnival Day Organisation has decided to postpone the Carnival originally planned for Sunday 6th June until next year.
The Carnival is a hugely popular event and we have had overwhelming community support in our goal of bringing it back to Stevenage after an absence of seven years.
Whilst we are disappointed that we have been unable to secure the necessary agreements, we will continue to work closely with representatives from the Council over the next twelve months. We feel positive that, with the support of the local authorities, the event will take place next summer.
We would like to thank all of you who have given us your support and commitment over the last eight months, especially those who were due to take part in the procession, run a stall or provide entertainment on the day. We will be contacting anyone who has booked a stall over the next few weeks to refund any monies paid.
Once again, thank you for your support. Without it we would not be able to bring back this event and we hope to continue working together to ensure the Carnival is a success in 2011.
